COLD SAFETY & INCLEMENT WEATHER

Walk like a penguin and use three-point contact whenever possible. Hold onto something secure as you navigate slippery surfaces.
OVEREXERTION, TWISTS, AND PULLS
When shovelling snow, pace yourself and lift smaller amounts at a time.
FOLLOW THESE SAFETY TIPS:
- Develop plans and procedures for cold weather, both at work and at home.
- Make prevention an everyday responsibility.
- Stay ahead of potential injuries related to cold weather events.
- Keep a flashlight readily available with fresh batteries.
- Use technology solutions, such as weather alerts or emergency apps (e.g., Alertable), to ensure safer outcomes.
HYPOTHERMIA & FROSTBITE
Limit your time outside, and dress in warm clothing and appropriate footwear.
