The Seabird Island Events Program plans and hosts over 100 vibrant gatherings each year for Band members and the local community. Our events aim to engage, connect, and celebrate the unique Seabird culture.
Annual highlights include:
- Seabird Festival – Celebrating Indigenous heritage with food, music, dance.
- Community Christmas Dinner – Bringing people together for the holidays.
- Sports Tournaments – Hockey, soccer, basketball, and more!
- Office Events – Staff appreciation and team building.
The Events Program handles all event coordination including:
- Planning and organizing
- Booking entertainment
- Arranging catering and refreshments
- Procuring door prizes and giveaways
- Decorating event venues

Seabird Island Sports and Recreation Sponsorship Program
The Seabird Island Band proudly sponsors community members’ participation in sports, recreation and leisure activities. We provide financial assistance for registration fees, equipment costs, travel expenses and more.
Funding helps cover:
For youth:
- Up to 100% of registration fees
- $50 annually for equipment
- $15/night for hotel
- $10/day for food
For adults/elders:
- Up to 50% of registration fees
To apply for sponsorship:
- Contact our Events Coordinator
- Fundraising encouraged to offset costs
- For school sports, contact the Education Department
Limited funding is available. By supporting participation costs, we hope to reduce barriers and help Seabird Island community members stay active, healthy, and connected through sports and recreation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Fill out the Sport Sponsorship Application form and submit it to events@seabirdisland.ca or drop it off at our office. Include supporting documents like invoices, event details, team rosters, and your complete budget request.
Submit your application at least 5 working days before the sports activity or event. This gives time for review and processing.
Please include:
- Invoice/receipt for registration fees
- Tournament/event poster or info
- Team roster if applicable
- Contact names and numbers
- Your detailed budget request
Approved funds can be issued directly to the league or tournament. Reimbursements to individuals are made by cheque within 5 business days if the application is approved.
