At Seabird Island, we actively coordinate across regional justice systems to advocate for our incarcerated or justice-involved members. Our Justice Program upholds Stó:lō values of compassion and restoration through stakeholder collaboration.
Our team builds open communication between individuals, families, leadership, courts, corrections services, and police forces. We bridge understanding between western and Indigenous ideologies of justice. Holistic, culturally-rooted aftercare plans give returning members the greatest chance of reintegration success.
For victims of crime or trauma, we provide counseling, medium- and long-term support groups, and access to the groundbreaking Sexual Assault Response Team. Safety planning and domestic violence assistance ensure environments for healthy healing.
Overall, our Justice Program links members to relevant cultural teachings, ceremonies, mental wellness aid, addiction recovery tools, and legal guidance. We journey with all who wish to transform suffering into empowerment. Discover the true meaning of justice at Seabird Island.
